‘We are Already Building Rio 2000, 30 Years in Advance’ is a video work and part of the project ‘Paraíso Ocupado’. The video is based on a script found in the abandoned archive. The script, originally written in English, was meant for a 30-minute commercial which would be screened at the World Expo of 1972, but it was never produced because the international exhibition never materialized. Our video was shot in and around an abandoned tower that was part of the original masterplan. It shows the contrast between the promised urban paradise and the dystopian scenery of today.
